Students will research case research to weigh positions on the various sides of these debates. This course introduces students to the visual cultures of Africa and its diasporas. Through thematic case research, college students explore African performance, ritual, sexuality, and identification.

In 1882 Arthur Heygate Mackmurdo founded The Century Guild, a gaggle aimed toward preserving handcraft and the authenticity of the artist, whose work included furniture, stained glass, metalwork, decorative painting, and architectural design.
